Prof. Silvia Nikolaeva is a graduate of Sofia University where she studied Pedagogy. She has specialized in many European (Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland) and non-European countries (Mexico, USA). Her main interests are in the area of non-formal learning and education, social pedagogy, classroom management, alternative pedagogy. She is author, co-author and editor of more than 150 publications, among which are: "Non-formal education. Philosophies. Theories. Practices" (2010; 2015), "Classroom management. What effective teachers know and do?" (2010), "Classroom management. Strategies, techniques and competences" (2012), "Toward transformative education. A Multidisciplinary Perspective on Research and Practice in Bulgaria and Ireland" (coedited with C. Mulcahy and G. Scanlon). Prof. Nikolaeva is the scientific compiler of volume 1 of the Anthology of Non-formal Education (2018) which will be officially launched during the conference.
Prof. Nikolaeva is a co-founder and consultant of several Bulgarian schools abroad (Vienna, Washington, Dublin, Warsaw). She is an active supporter of all academic programmes in non-formal education. Currently she is the Chair of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Management in Education - InterAula, an NGO supporting quality management in education.
